Meghan Markle is reinventing the rules when it comes to the royal dress code, and her latest outing in Scotland proves just that.
Instead of stepping out in tailored coat dresses or carrying a chic clutch like Duchess Kate, the American actress is doing things her own way.
The "Suits" star made a major style statement on Tuesday when she stepped out in a Burberry tartan coat6, Veronica Beard trousers and a crossbody bag by Scottish brand Strathberry for her first official visit to Scotland with Prince Harry.
Her appearance in Edinburgh marks her fifth official engagement, and it's also the fourth time she's worn trousers. If you recall, Meghan stunned and shocked fans when she wore an Alexander McQueen suit to a black-tie affair instead of a usual ball gown.
The actress' decision to carry a trendy Strathberry crossbody bag is also unheard of, with royals traditionally opting for a neat clutch. Duchess Kate is never seen without one in both of her hands during official public appearances. The reason? The Duchess of Cambridge "holds her bag in front of her in both hands when shaking hands might be awkward."
