The teacher took the little boy to the principal, where he broke down and told them of his horror at the hands of the evil foster mum.
The grade 2 pupil showed them bruises he sustained after he was severely beaten with a belt buckle for wetting the bed.
The assault happened at Nompumelelo Community Centre in Joza, Grahamstown, in the early hours of Monday morning.
The teacher said at first the boy refused to tell the truth, saying he bumped against a door while trying to open it.
The boy’s madala (66) said: “I am deeply hurt about what happened to my grandson.
“They have destroyed his future at a young age.”
The madala said he and his wife had been looking after the boy and his 10-year-old sister after they were abandoned by their parents in hospital.
“When my wife left me, social workers decided to take them to the safe house,” he said.
The boy’s sister claimed her brother was stripped naked before the foster mum began beating him.
Woineshet Bischoff, director in the healthcare industry in Grahamstown, confirmed that the foster mum was ordered to leave the centre immediately.
They are investigating the incident.
Police spokeswoman Captain Mali Govender told Daily Sun: “Police are investigating a case of common assault. No arrests have been made.
“The child was reportedly taken to Port Elizabeth to receive medical attention.”
